Partners and Projects

FEDER (Phenix), SPW-EU (2023-2027) This project has enabled the acquisition of advanced tools, such as the Segregostat, allowing us to study the phenotypic diversification of cellular populations in the context of industrial bioprocesses.

Win4Excellence (Peptiboost), SPW (2023-2027) This project, in collaboration with the University of Namur, aims to optimize the control of recombinant protein secretion (SEC pathway) in Bacillus using a single-cellapproach.

PDR, FRS-FNRS (2023-2026) This project, in collaboration with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, aims to study the fundamental processes of phenotypic and genotypic diversification in microbialpopulations to establish new strategies for controlling bioprocesses.

Wagralim (Proactif) (2023-2026) This project, conducted in collaboration with Puratos aims to ensure the stability and control of Bacillus populations for the secretion of recombinant proteins.

ARC (Plastinsect) (2022-2025) This project, conducted in collaboration with the Entomology and Mass Spectrometry Laboratories at the University of Liège, aims to isolate microorganisms capable of assimilating plastics of types PE, PU, and PET.

Greenwin (Elithe) (2021-2025) This project, conducted in collaboration with UNamur and Fytofend, aims to develop aproduction system for recombinant enzymes using Bacillus bacteria to formulate activehydrolysates as biocontrol agent.

Wagralim (Sunup) (2021-2025) This project, conducted in collaboration with Puratos and Vésale Pharma, aims to ensure the control of bacterial-yeast co-cultures to produce yeast starters.

Era-net “Aquatic pollutant”, EU H2020-FNRS (Arena) (2021-2024) This project, conducted in collaboration with KULeuven and the Research Center Jülich in Germany, aimed to develop rapid detection techniques for micro organisms inaquaculture systems and their antibiotic resistance.

Era-Cobiotech, EU H2020-DG06 (Contibio) (2021-2024) This project, conducted in collaboration with the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Leipzig and Puratos, aimed to develop strategies for controlling co-culture incontinuous bioreactors.

TWB (NoHighRec) (2020-2021)This project, conducted in collaboration with the University of Toulouse / Toulouse Biotechnology Institute, aimed to develop strategies for controlling yeast culture using biosensor based on DNA recombination rate.

DG06 (Talk2Clean) (2019-2021) This project, conducted in collaboration with John Cockerill and Cebedeau, aimed to identify microorganisms able of “quorum quenching” to disperse biofilms in cooling towers.

Era-Cobiotech, EU H2020-DG06 (YBISCUS) (2020-2021) This project, conducted in collaboration with the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Leipzig, aimed to develop strategies for controlling co-culture in continuous bioreactors.

Era-Cobiotech, EU H2020-DG06 (COMRADES) (2018-2021) This project, conducted in collaboration with DSM, TU Delft, and the University of Stuttgart, aimed to develop a predictive model for scaling-up bioprocesses. Our specific responsibility was to investigate the phenotypic diversification of microbial populations.
